Citi Bikes for CitiLights
Our specially designed stationary bike installation at select Citi branches lets people turn their energy into electricity for neighborhood lights:
• An attract mode plays on the exterior screen and invites people to ride our custom Citi Bikes and power their city.
• Once a person begins to pedal one of the stationary bikes, the display visualizes the electricity being generated in real-time.
• A map of the city shows exactly what neighborhood is being illuminated thanks to the rider.
• Riders can view how much energy their session has contributed, along with how much the entire branch has generated.
• After their session, each rider receives a visualization of their contribution via mobile phone, which they can then share in social.
• People are also invited to learn more about the Progress Makers initiative, and how Citi is powering innovative programs in certain communities.
• Other Citi branches will help promote the experience and drive traffic to the installation.
After sunset, branded Citi Lights will illuminate sections of the neighborhood that could use additional lighting. As an added bonus, Citi will cover one month’s electricity for anyone who opens a new checking account after participating in the experience.
Launch PR Stunt:
50 cyclists in the middle of Times Square will ride our custom Citi Bikes and power the billboard high above them, along with a playground in the city. The screen will broadcast a live feed of children getting an extra hour or two of playtime in the park.
