City Harvest is New York City's largest food rescue organization. The organization collects food that would otherwise go to waste from restaurants, bakeries and cafes.
THE IDEA:
In 2011, there were over 584 million mail pieces processed each day in the U.S.
These postage stamps issued by the USPS were priced 5 cents higher than regular stamps.
If every mail sender donates an extra 5 cents with every stamp, the total amount of
29.2 million dollars would be collected for City Harvest every single day.
As benefits, USPS gets free advertising space in 17 City Harvest trucks.
